September 2010-  Snohomish County New Drainage Regulations:  Beginning September 30, 2010, new regulations and rules will be in effect relating to stormwater management in Snohomish County.  These include drainage, land disturbing activity (clearing  and grading) regulations, a Snohomish County Drainage Manual and updates to chapter 5  (Drainage) of the Engineering Design and Development Standards.  These regulations will apply to most land use approvals and permit applications.  For more information, visit Snohmish County's National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Stormwater Update Project web page.

June 2010-  City of Edmonds Adopts New Stormwater Management Code: On April 20, 2010 Edmonds City Council approved the new stormwater code and supplement for development, redevelopment, and construction sites. This complete re-write of Edmonds Community Development Code (ECDC) Chapter 18.30 is in response to the Western Washington Phase II Municipal Stormwater Permit, issued by the Washington Department of Ecology. The City is also revising and updating stormwater management standards due to advancements in the field since the last code update in 1995. These updates include allowing the use of low impact development (LID) techniques, where feasible. May 2009-  Snohomish County changes permitting hours:  Snohomish County Planning & Development Services have revised their permitting hours from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM (closed noon to 1:00 PM) on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday (closed on Thursday).  All applications and submittal will now be made by appointment only.  To schedule an appointment call (425)388-3311 Ext. 2790.
